Why it is important to help
The Avenida Guadalupe Association serves the community in a number of meaningful ways. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we rely on sponsors, funders, and volunteers to help us deliver opportunities that support neighborhood families and senior citizens; that fortify the Guadalupe Street commercial corridor; that strengthen and connect area non-profit organizations; and that mobilize cultural activities that reinforce the traditions and heritage of the Mexican American community; all of which move us toward fulfilling our mission.
How You can help
Business and individual donors can help us in several ways:
- Sign up with smile.amazon.com and donate to the Avenida Guadalupe Association with every Amazon purchase you make;
- Donate Monetarily – Donated funds allow us to provide the resources needed to strengthen our non-profit social network, ensuring that our neighborhood is connected to effective and efficient services. Donations provide Avenida with the resources to provide healthy food options for neighborhood senior communities living independently at below 50% AMI. Donations also help us to off-set the cost of community events like El Dia de Los Niños, Pictures with Santa, and the Dieciseis de Septiembre Parade and Educational Programming, all of which increase the quality of life for one of San Antonio’s most vulnerable communities.
- Volunteer – Avenida Guadalupe Association welcomes help from those ready to roll up their sleeves and involve themselves in a dynamic Westside community. We offer opportunities to volunteer at any of the cultural events we sponsor as well as to help us keep this special inner-city community graffiti and trash-free;
- Join Our Community – Professionals and students with interests or expertise in any of our service areas are vital assets when we come together to discover new ways to meet our goals. Advocates interested in providing a voice for our community can join the Inner-City Advocates of Judge Albert A. Pena, Jr. Non-profit service providers can join the Barrio Network and participate in cooperative events and activities.
