Wendy Stiles

Interim Chair

Wendy Stiles serves as the Vice-chair of the Avenida Guadalupe Association’s Board of Directors.  Professionally, Ms. Stiles is the Director of Community Enrichment for Kiolbassa Provision Company known worldwide for their premium-smoked sausage.  A grandchild of the Kiolbassa legacy, which started in 1949 in the Avenida Guadalupe community, Stiles believes in enriching the lives of others. “It is not only the vision of our business, but the legacy of our grandparents Rufus and Juanita Kiolbassa”.  Her expertise working as a liaison between the local community food banks and Kiolbassa has made her an asset to Avenida Guadalupe and its commitment to ensure a strong enduing partnership with the food banks for years to come.  Wendy joined the Board in 2013.

Guillermo Moya

Interim Co-Chair

Guillermo Moya is and Architect with the City of San Antonio.  He is a graduate of South San High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1996.  His experience includes many years as a Projects Manager in the office of Paul Kennison and Associates where he led full phase architectural services from design to construction management.  Moya left Kennison in 2005 to join the Architectural Department of the City of San Antonio eventually migrating to the San Antonio Convention Facilities department.  He is a leading force of the San Antonio area ACE Mentor Program of America providing guidance to high school students aspiring to be architects, contractors and engineers.  Guillermo joined the Avenida’s Board of Directors in the spring of 2015.

Yolanda Sosa

Secretary

Yolanda P. Sosa serves as the Secretary of the Avenida Guadalupe Association’s and is a Resident Member of the Board of Directors.  Ms. Sosa is a lifelong resident of the Westside, graduating from Lanier High School before attending San Antonio College and Palo Alto College.  She volunteers at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was employed with the U.S. Government for over 25 years.  She currently works in contracting for the Defense Energy Support Center (DESC) at Lackland Air Force Base.  Ms. Sosa joined the Board in 2004 out of a desire to get involved in her neighborhood, and her unique status as a lifelong resident provides a necessary voice for the immediate community.

William Soria, CPA

Treasurer

William Soria serves as the Treasurer of the Avenida Guadalupe Association’s Board of Directors.  Soria is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  He has over twenty years experience in accounting and financial reporting and has worked for major U.S. corporations, including Weyerhaeuser, Inc. and Alcoa Fujikura Ltd.  William was Vice-President / Controller for the Las Palapas restaurant chain for several years, successfully managing operations and providing a platform for growth.  In January of 2001, he opened his own CPA firm and quickly expanded starting a separate sister company, Corporate Payroll Administrators.  Soria joined the Board in 2015 determined to grow the Avenida’s capacity to better serve the Avenida Guadalupe community.

THEODORE SAGE TURNER, AIA, LEED

Resident

Theodore S. Turner is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Avenida Guadalupe Association.  He served on the Avenida Guadalupe Association’s Board of Directors from 2001-2010 as a Resident Member and rejoined the Board in 2015. Professionally he is an Architect with UT Health Science Center at San Antonio where he serves as a Design Architect/ Project Manager for the campus. In addition to his years practicing architecture, Turner brings a unique skill set to the Avenida that includes experience as a Commissioning/ Energy Specialist, having provided verification services for US EPA ENERGY STAR for several City of San Antonio buildings and executed commissioning of MEP systems for the University Hospital’s LEED Gold certified Sky Tower.

Rick Uriegas

Resident

Rick Uriegas is a dynamic and dedicated leader in the Westside.  He is a graduate of St. Mary’s University and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration.  Rick served as a board member for the St. Mary’s University Alumni Association, the Conservation Society, and in 2000 he was presented a “Profiles In Leadership Award” for outstanding service to the community.  Along with his sister Margo, he is a founder of AUEDA (Action United for Entertainers and Diverse Artists) and hosts the annual Fiesta event “Pinatas in the Barrio”, where AUEDA crowns San Antonio’s only senior citizen king and queen.  A former employee of the Avenida himself, Rick joined the Avenida Board of Directors in 2015.

Lisa De La Luz

At Large

Lisa De La Luz joined the Avenida Board of Directors in 2015 to complete the term of Mary Helen Gonzales who retired from the Board in November.  Lisa De La Luz, the daughter of a 42-year officer of the City of San Antonio Police Department, is a government administrator serving as an Audit Group Supervisor with the Texas-State Comptroller of Public Accounts. Lisa attended Harlandale High School and in 1989 received her Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting from St. Mary’s University located on San Antonio’s Westside where she was a member of the woman’s social, cultural and service organization Beta Sigma Phi. Lisa is also a consultant at Ahni and Zoe by Creative Memories.

SONIA Q. CANALES

Resident

Sonia Quirino Canales joined the Avenida Board of Directors in 2014 with a great desire to serve the community she greatly admires. A native San Antonian, she attended Tafolla Middle school and was a journalist for El Placazo Community Newspaper while in college. She is the Diversity & Inclusion Manager for H-E-B where she oversees the inclusion and diversity initiatives throughout Texas. In addition to overseeing diversity and inclusion education and awareness for H-E-B’s Partners across the state, she manages the department’s charitable giving and works to strengthen relationships with all diversity advocacy groups and community-based organizations in the area. Quirino-Canales is the Chair Elect of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas-San Antonio Chapter, and a board member of the United Communities of San Antonio. She is a previous board member of the Public Relations Society of America-San Antonio Chapter and a former steering committee member of the Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce’s EPIC Leadership Program. She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Our Lady of the Lake.

MAYELA RAMOS

Resident

Mayela Ramos is a resident of the west side. She is a mother, a grandparent and the military wife of her late husband. Ramos and her husband both attended Lanier High School. She strives for her children to grow and seek bigger things that will benefit them in the future. Mayela wants to share her ideas and see change in the community. She talks openly and is always ready to help in every way she can. The board members of Avenida want to welcome Mayela as the newest board member of the Avenida Guadalupe Association.
