This low-income senior community was completed in November 2002 and is located at 1003 Vera Cruz Street in close proximity to the San Antonio River Authority’s newly constructed Westside Creeks Trail-way System – offering miles of below street level walking paths.  Named after Ernest C. Olivares, the Avenida’s first Executive Director, the Olivares Senior Community is comprised of 59 units with balcony or patio and several community areas that are all incorporated into an environment dedicated to independent senior living.

Every unit complies with the American with Disabilities Act.  Amenities include handicapped accessibility, a large courtyard, elevator, access gates, five community rooms with activities, and laundry room. This incredible development made possible with HUD funding is the second low income senior housing community established by the Avenida Guadalupe Association.
